Enhanced Multidisciplinary Team (E-MDT)

Vera House serves as the Enhanced Multidisciplinary Team (E-MDT) Hub for Central New York, managing the E-MDT initiative for Cortland, Herkimer, Madison, Oneida, Onondaga, Oswego and Tompkins Counties. 

The E-MDT is a team of professionals that work together to review cases of suspected financial exploitation, physical abuse, psychological abuse, sexual abuse, and neglect by others of older adults. 

E-MDTs have unique access to a forensic accountant, civil attorney and geriatric psychiatrist in addition to drawing on the local expertise of prosecutors, law enforcement, adult protective, office for the aging, victim service, financial industry, medical and other service providers. The team provides a holistic response which includes recommendations and support to those working on complex cases of abuse in later life.
