Crisis Call Volunteer

All volunteers must be at least 18 years of age and have completed the basic Vera House Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault Training.

Crisis Call Volunteers must be:
   □ available to work @10 - 15 daytime hours per month
   □ capable of supporting and actively listening to those in crisis
           because of sexual assault or domestic violence or abuse
   □ non-judgmental and compassionate individuals

Shelter Volunteer

All volunteers must be at least 18 years of age and have completed the basic Vera House Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault Training.

Shelter volunteers assist staff in providing comprehensive services to all residents, adults and children. These responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
   □ children’s programs / supervision and transportation
   □ transporting of clients to appointments
   □ assisting client with job and/or housing search
   □ assisting with clerical tasks
   □ special projects as need

Family Court Volunteer

All volunteers must be at least 18 years of age and have completed the basic Vera House Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault Training.

Family Court volunteers
assist individuals affected by domestic violence in assessing their need for intervention by the court system. These responsibilities may include the following:
   □ provide crisis intervention, explore and validate feelings, safety
           plan, gather information and make referrals to appropriate
           community resources
   □ assist in the preparation of petitions for Orders of Protection
           and in some cases, Custody Petitions
   □ provide court accompaniment for clients when possible
           and/or necessary

Sexual Assault Volunteer Advocate

All volunteers must be at least 18 years of age and have completed the basic Vera House Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault Training.

Sexual Assault Volunteer Advocates must fulfill the following:
   □ provide advocacy for victims of sexual assault in area
           hospitals and police agencies
   □ have own transportation and be available to work
           after hours and weekends
   □ uphold the confidentiality of and respect the dignity
           of clients at all times
   □ be non-judgmental and compassionate individuals
