Would you like to make
a difference?
Your energy and compassion can make all
the difference in the world
to a victim of domestic violence or sexual assault.
As a Vera House volunteer, you can translate your
concern for
individuals and families in crisis into truly
meaningful effort.
There are many ways to help - so many ways to touch
the
countless lives shattered by violence and abuse - to
help shine a light
on the path towards a safe and healthy future.
Vera House is currently looking for sexual assault
volunteers who would be available to attend training
in mid-late September 2010. After completing our 20
hour training, volunteers respond after hours to
area hospitals to support victims of sexual assault
as they go through the process of a medical exam or
evidence collection. This is a very rewarding
experience for the volunteer, and something that is
very needed in our community. Interested candidates
should complete the volunteer application below.
What do Vera House volunteers say
about why they got involved?
“I think Vera House is a great organization,
and
I want
to contribute to the
community.”
“I feel that I need to learn all that I can about
these issues
and
I have a desire to help out in the court system.”
"It
gives me a gratifying feeling to know that as a
volunteer advocate
I can provide support, comfort & a listening ear . . .
to someone
who has experienced the ultimate violation - sexual
assault."
