2006:
Cazenovia
College senior makes
VERA
HOUSE
|

her personal
project . . . |
|
|
|
Visual
communications students in Randy Akers class
at Cazenovia College
carved out a unique opportunity
to put their senior projects on public display.
They submitted a proposal to ThINC - The Institution of a
Now Culture
who exhibited their creative efforts last month at
Company Gallery / One Lincoln Center
in a show called
"Identity and Communication" |
21 year old
Sarah Groff
saw the class assignment as more
than just an opportunity for prominent
public display of her talents.
She saw it as a chance to accomplish
something even greater . . .
"My project is for Vera House.
I wanted to use the time and
commitment to work on
something very important.
I created posters that are bold &
attention-getting and also contain
very deep & compelling emotion." |
 |
|
 |
"My focus is on the emotional
aspect of domestic violence
because people
can relate to
emotion & feel
empathy
from seeing
struggle
distress & fear
even if they haven't
been subjected to
domestic violence." |
|
Sarah's remarkable posters are a tremendous gift to our
mission
and all of us at Vera House are deeply grateful.
____________________________________
She devoted her considerable talent and energy to creating a collection
of extremely powerful images to raise public awareness of
the devastating personal impact of domestic violence in our community.
And her fresh design for our 2006 White Ribbon Campaign logo
graced our annual event breakfast invitations and website.

We wish Sarah
the greatest success
in her professional
career & thank her for
her legacy of service
to Vera House.
