2014 World Elder Abuse Awareness Day Overview

Onondaga County recognized the 10th Annual World Elder Abuse Awareness Day on June 11, 2014 with a free community event - "Physical & Financial Fitness”

About 100 seniors and community partners from across Onondaga County joined together to address an issue of growing recognition and concern for public & professional communities throughout the United States and nations worldwide – abuse in later life and our elder population. 

Participants in this collaborative initiative covered many important topics including: 

  • Power of Attorney
  • Scams
  • "Step Up to Stop Falls"
  • Estate Planning
  • Exercising for Health
  • Consultations with Pharmacists Regarding Prescription Medications
