Vera House White Ribbon Campaign goes to Washington, D.C.!

On Friday April 1, 2011 Congresswoman Ann Marie Buerkle (NY-25) spoke from the floor of the House of Representatives to raise awareness of domestic violence and sexual assault.  In her comments Congresswoman Buerkel said, "Our society has a moral obligation to stand up against those who exploit their power and commit violence against women, men and children, and I join with other members in taking the opportunity to discuss these issues and participate in the White Ribbon Campaign."

The Congresswoman's office also distributed white ribbons attached to a "Dear Colleague" letter to other members of the House of Representatives on March 30 & 31.

Rep. Renee Ellmers (NC-2) and Rep. Ted Poe (TX-2), Chairman of the Victim’s Rights Caucus, joined Congresswoman Buerkle to voice their support of the White Ribbon Campaign and putting an end to domestic violence.
