14th Annual Vera House Foundation White Ribbon Campaign
March 28 - April 6, 2008
White
Ribbon Breakfast
Wednesday, April 2, 2008
|
 |
During a 10-day period in the spring of 2008,
thousands of Central New Yorkers will be wearing a white
ribbon or white wristband to raise awareness about
domestic and sexual violence. Join these concerned citizens and
take part in our White Ribbon Campaign to help support
Vera House’s Alternatives program. The Campaign is led
by men and encourages all members of the community - men
and women, young and old - to join them in their
efforts.
This male leadership helps to acknowledge the important
contributions men have made to this effort and invites
others to take a role.
All proceeds raised are dedicated to Alternatives, an
education and accountability program for men who have
been abusive to their female partners or ex-partners.
The 2007 White Ribbon Campaign
involved over 42,000 people in the Greater Syracuse
community!
Please
consider taking part in the 2008 White Ribbon Campaign. Wearing a white ribbon or wristband is an important
statement. It means you will not condone, support or
commit domestic or sexual violence.
Change will occur only if we each accept personal
responsibility to make sure it happens. Wearing a ribbon
provokes discussion, debate and soul-searching among
the people around us.

Clothesline Project
Spring 2008
|
 |
The Clothesline Project celebrates the strength and
courage of survivors of sexual assault and abuse by
providing a creative vehicle to share their stories
and reclaim their voice. The courageous participants
in our community's project - women, men and children -
create T-shirts that bear their individual messages of
anguish, hope, healing and reality through a variety
of media. These unique works of art are hung together on
clotheslines forming a powerful statement for all
survivors. The project also serves as a community
awareness event that brings attention to the issues of
sexual violence, and the need for all of us to bear
witness to the pain and healing of survivors.
