Vera House hopes you'll join the Coalition's efforts
by working with one or more of these Committees:
 

 


ACCESSI
BILITY TASK FORCE
To develop a coordinated community response
to survivors of domestic and sexual violence with disabilities
through developing a network of providers who are responsive to the intersection of trauma & disability, providing education
& resource materials and increasing awareness.
 

ALCOHOL & OTHER DRUGS
To provide regular training and dialogue with providers
in the addictions field and to develop domestic and
sexual violence modules for chemical dependency groups.
 

CHILDREN & YOUTH
To provide resources and training for parents, service providers, schools and law enforcement agencies that work with children
and youth who have experienced domestic violence
or sexual abuse in their families.
 

DIVERSITY TASK FORCE
To make the Coalition more representative,
and service providers more sensitive to issues facing
people of color or people of differing levels of ability
who are affected by domestic or sexual violence.
 

ELDER ABUSE
To increase awareness about domestic and sexual abuse of
older individuals and to develop resources for this community.
 

HEALTH ISSUES
To develop and/or implement procedures for identifying
and responding to victims of domestic and sexual violence
in the healthcare community and to provide education
and resource materials to enhance that process.


INTER FAITH TASK FORCE
To continue outreach to clergy and lay religious leaders,
as well as to develop spiritual resources for those affected
by domestic and sexual violence.


JUSTICE & LEGAL/LEGISLATIVE
To continue improvement in the justice system's response
to domestic and sexual violence, including more consistency
across jurisdictions (e.g. city/town/village).
 

LESBIAN/GAY/BISEXUAL/TRANSGENDER DOMESTIC & SEXUAL VIOLENCE
To increase awareness about violent relationships in
the lesbian/gay/ bisexual/transgender community
and to develop resources for this community.

 

STEERING COMMITTEE
To oversee Coalition activities;
composed of the Chairs of all Coalition Committees.
