October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Stand with Vera House during October and bring awareness to domestic violence. The statistics are staggering...1 in 4 women and 1 in 7 men aged 18 or older in the United States have been the victim of physical violence in their lifetime by an intimate partner.  2017 marks the 30th Anniversary of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Discover what can happen when we collaborate, educate, and advocate together.

You can help create a community where safety and respect are the foundation of every relationship. Here are some simple ideas to get you started:

  • Learn more about Vera House and the work we do at our Report to the Community on  Wednesday, October 4

  • Give the gift of life - participate in our blood drive for the American Red Cross on Wednesday, Ocober 11

  • Participate in the New York State Office for the Prevention of Domestic Violence's "NYS Wear Purple Day" on October 19
