Clothesline Project
Apr 17, 2012 to Apr 20, 2012
The Clothesline Project will be coordinated during the month of April in Central New York in conjunction with National Sexual Assault Awareness Month. The Clothesline Project Shirt Exhibit, featuring over 250 shirts, will be on display April 17th-20th in the John H. Mulroy Civic Center's Banner Room.
The Clothesline Project celebrates the strength and courage of survivors of sexual assault and abuse by providing a creative vehicle to share their stories and reclaim their voice. The courageous participants in our community's project - women, men and children - create T-shirts that bear their individual messages of anguish, hope, healing and reality through a variety of media. These unique works of art are hung together on clotheslines forming a powerful statement for all survivors. The project also serves as a community awareness event that brings attention to the issues of sexual violence, and the need for all of us to bear witness to the pain and healing of survivors.
